The Rotary Club of Patan Durbar Square, together with Rotaract Patan Durbar Square, Rotary Club of Kathmandu Mid Town, Rotaract Kathmandu Mid Town, Karunamaya Foundation Nepal, Cerebral Palsy Clinic and Care Center, Bethanchok Gaupalika, and Shree Parbati Sec. School, Dhumkarka, recently organized and completed the “Sewa ma Samarpit 2nd Phase” – a Comprehensive Screening Camp for Neurological Disorders and Related Disabilities in children. The camp, which aimed to identify cases of Cerebral Palsy and raise awareness about Breast and Cervical Cancer, took place on December 9th, 2023, at Shree Parbati Sec. School, Dhumkarka, Bethanchok Gaupalika.
Coordinated and led by Rtn. Dr. Chandra Lekha Tuladhar (PP) (RC Kathmandu Mid Town) and Rtn. Dr. Pragya Karmacharya Rajbhandari (CP Chair) (RC Patan Durbar Square), the program provided essential medical guidance, seizure management, physiotherapy sessions, and speech therapy sessions to 20 children dealing with Cerebral Palsy and other neurological disorders. The expert team from Cerebral Palsy Clinic and Care Center, Satdobato, including Neuro-Pediatricians, physiotherapists, and speech therapists, played a crucial role in supporting these children.
Professor Dr. Bernhard Schmitt, a Neuro-Pediatrician and Epileptologist from Switzerland delivered a special presentation on Cerebral Palsy. This insightful session aimed to enhance the understanding of the complexities faced by families with children who have Cerebral Palsy.
Simultaneously, Rotractors organized two vital awareness programs on Breast Cancer and Cervical Cancer, reaching out to over 100 local community women’s groups. The objective was to provide valuable information and insights into Breast and Cervical Cancer Awareness.
The event received a warm welcome from the School Parvati Sec. School’s Principal, and in addition to the health camp, a meaningful meeting was attended by Rotarians, Rotractors, and notable individuals, including the Chairperson from Bethanchok Gaupalika, the ward chairperson, and the principal of Shree Parbati. The meeting facilitated an insightful exchange of ideas and discussions on raising awareness about Cerebral Palsy. Participants explored potential future collaborations to improve the quality of life for children with Cerebral Palsy and their caregivers. Both the Cerebral Palsy Clinic and Care Center and Bethanchok Gaupalika expressed eagerness to work together in serving the needs of children with Cerebral Palsy.
