On 19th March 2026, a one-day health camp was successfully organized at Thimi Day Care Center by the Self-Help Group for Cerebral Palsy (SGCP) in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Patan Durbar Square, with support from District Governor Rtn. Binod Koirala.
The program was led by Rtn. Dr. Pragya Karmacharya Rajbhandari, President of the Rotary Club of Patan Durbar Square for Rotary Year 2025–26. The initiative was focused on providing specialized healthcare services to children with Cerebral Palsy and other neurological disorders, particularly those from medium and low-income families with limited access to advanced medical care.
A total of 17 children benefited from the camp. The services provided included pediatric neurology consultation, electroencephalogram (EEG), physiotherapy, occupational therapy, parental counseling, and awareness sessions on Cerebral Palsy and neurological conditions.
During the camp, conditions such as seizure disorders, muscle stiffness, dystonia, pain due to restricted movement, behavioral challenges, cognitive impairment, intellectual disabilities, hyperactivity, and autism spectrum conditions were identified and managed by Rtn. Dr. Pragya Karmacharya Rajbhandari. EEG examinations were conducted for five children with suspected seizure disorders to support accurate diagnosis and further treatment planning.
Comprehensive physiotherapy and occupational therapy services were provided by PT Sarna Maharjan, helping improve mobility, functional independence, and overall quality of life of the beneficiaries. Parents also received counseling and practical guidance on home-based care, rehabilitation practices, and long-term support strategies.
The health camp significantly contributed to early diagnosis, improved functional outcomes, reduced pain and stiffness, and empowered families with essential knowledge for continued care. The initiative also strengthened access to specialized health services for underserved communities, promoting better maternal and child health outcomes.
The Rotary Club of Patan Durbar Square expresses sincere gratitude to District Governor Rtn. Binod Koirala for his generous support and encouragement, which played a key role in the successful implementation of this impactful program.
The club also acknowledges the dedication of medical professionals, therapists, volunteers, and all partners involved in making this initiative a meaningful service to children and their families.
