Cerebral Palsy is the signature project of The Rotary Club of Patan Durbar Square. In collaboration with the Self-help Group of Cerebral Palsy (SGCP), the club recently organized a two-day free health camp for these children on August 28th and 29th, 2023, at Narayani Hospital in Birgunj.

During the event, the team, consisting of Rtn. Dr. Pragya Karmacharya Rajbhandari (MD Pediatric), Sarana Shrestha (Physiotherapist), and Kriti Karn (Speech Therapist) examined 26 children who were dealing with Cerebral Palsy and other neurological disorders.

During the camp, the team offered essential medicines, medical guidance, physiotherapy sessions, and speech therapy sessions to support these children. The program was coordinated by Rtn. Dr. Pragya Karmacharya Rajbhandari, CP Committee chair of the Rotary Club of Patan Durbar Square.

This compassionate initiative reflects the Rotary Club of Patan Durbar Square’s commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of children with Cerebral Palsy and their families.

In addition to the health camp, a small but meaningful meeting took place. Dr. Shailesh Thakur, the head of the pediatric department at Narayani Hospital, hosted this gathering. The meeting was attended by notable individuals, including Rtn Dr. Pragya Karmacharya Rajbhandari and Sarana Shrestha, a physiotherapist from SGCP, along with Dr. Chitaranjan Shah and Dr. Shailesh Thakur from Narayani Hospital. Representatives from Birgunj Sub Metropolitan City also participated.

During this meeting, there was a brief yet insightful exchange of ideas and discussions focused on raising awareness about Cerebral Palsy. The participants also explored potential future collaborations aimed at improving the quality of life for children with Cerebral Palsy and their caregivers. Encouragingly, both the hospital and the Sub-Metropolitan City expressed their eagerness to work together in serving the needs of children with Cerebral Palsy.
